SuperStar EP camera experiment

I wanted a plane with more performance than my foamie trainers, so I picked up a Hobbico SuperStar EP Select in ARF configuration. This plane flew so well, I succumbed to peer-pressure and was doing some outside loops on the third flight, when the aileron servo came loose and the plane spun into the ground.

Luckily the damage was not so bad that a lot of CA couldn't fix it, however the stock speed 600 motor had a bent shaft. Since I had a brushless 35-30-1450 motor and controller sitting on my bench, I decided an upgrade was in order. I also added a 1500 mAh 11V lipo battery pack, and the plane was ready to fly again.

Though still not capable of 3D performance, the new power setup made the SS a bit of a handfull at full throttle. I added some velcro tape to allow attachement of my Audiovox camcorder, and shot an aerial video on July 17, 2007.

Update: July 19, 2007
Since the new 9x6 prop kept hitting the ground (and mowing the grass), I reshaped the landing gear a bit. I also took another, backward-facing video.
